Previous Congress Government Failed to Provide Compassionate Jobs to Deserving Families: Hardeep Mundian
Chandigarh, January 12
Punjab Water Supply and Sanitation Minister Hardeep Mundian today handed over appointment letters to 12 newly inducted Group-D employees of the Water Supply and Sanitation Department at Punjab Bhawan here on Monday.
These appointments have been made under the Punjab Government’s compassionate employment policy, aimed at providing immediate financial support to families left in distress following the death of their sole breadwinner.
The Cabinet Minister detailed that among the 12 appointees:
- 1 has been appointed as Clerk
- 8 as Sewadars
- 1 as Safai Sewak
- 2 as Helper Technical
He described these appointments as a firm and decisive step by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government to ensure timely assistance to grieving families while simultaneously strengthening the departmental workforce.
Strongly criticizing the previous Congress government, Mundian said:
โDespite clear rules and provisions in place, compassionate appointments were deliberately ignored and unnecessarily delayed under the previous regime.โ
He highlighted that two of the newly appointed individuals had lost their fathers in 2017 and 2018 respectively, but were denied compassionate employment during the Congress government’s tenure. The Mann government, he added, has now rectified this injustice by taking swift, fair, and prompt decisions.
While handing over the appointment letters, the Minister expressed his satisfaction and stated:
โThe Bhagwant Singh Mann government is fully committed to inclusive development, giving equal priority to the welfare of every section of society. I congratulate all the new appointees โ the government has fulfilled its responsibility by providing them secure government jobs.โ

The newly appointed employees, along with their family members, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Cabinet Minister Mundian and the Punjab Government for providing them this much-needed support and employment opportunity.
