Star-Studded Honour: Renowned Artists Felicitated at ‘Antarang’ Classical Music Concert

Patiala, April 3, 2026:

The Kaivalay Foundation, dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Indian classical music, successfully organized a soulful evening titled ‘Antarang’ in collaboration with the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The event was held at the Kalidas Auditorium of NZCC.

Internationally acclaimed veena maestro Pandit Suman Laha presented Raga Madhuwanti with exceptional grace and depth, leaving the audience spellbound. He was beautifully accompanied on the tabla by Siddharth Chatterjee of the Farrukhabad gharana. The harmonious blend of veena and tabla created a mesmerizing experience, earning thunderous applause from the audience.

On this occasion, several eminent women musicians from the Patiala region were honoured for their outstanding contributions to the field of music. Dr. Daisy Walia and Dr. Jiwan Bala were specially conferred with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’. Other distinguished personalities honoured included Dr. Jyoti Sharma, Dr. Pushpinder Kaur, Dr. Gauri Khanna, Ms. Manisha, Ms. Garima, and renowned Kathak exponents Dr. Arshdeep Kaur Bhatti, Ms. Jasmine, and Ms. Vidyagauri. These artists have made significant contributions as teachers, performers, scholars, and mentors.

Dr. Harmohan Sharma, President of the Kaivalay Foundation, highlighted the foundation’s objectives and activities. He expressed delight that the organization is entering its 20th year of promoting Indian classical music. Over the past two decades, Kaivalay Foundation has consistently provided a prestigious platform to renowned artists from India and abroad through various musical events.

He further stated that ‘Antarang’ has become a living symbol of India’s rich classical music heritage, reaffirming the foundation’s unwavering commitment to preserving, promoting, and celebrating this timeless tradition.

The program began with a warm welcome address by Dr. Jagmohan Sharma, who greeted the distinguished artists and audience members. Among the notable personalities present were Mr. Bhupinder Singh from NZCC, Dr. Alankar Singh, Pandit Madhuresh Bhatt from Punjabi University Patiala, noted thinker Dr. Surjit Singh Bhatti, and several other eminent figures from the field of arts and culture.
