District School Tournament Secretary and Senior Vice-President of the Judo Association of Punjab, Charanjit Singh Bhullar, said it is a matter of immense pride not only for Patiala but also for Punjab and the Indian Kurash community that Surjit Singh Walia of Patiala has been selected as an international referee for the Asian Games Japan 2026.
Surjit Singh Walia is also the General Secretary of the Kurash Association of Punjab and runs a Kurash and Judo training centre at Sahib Nagar Theri. Under his coaching, Judo and Kurash players have been bringing laurels to Patiala and the training centre at both the state and national levels.

Bhullar congratulated Walia on his selection and said his achievement would further inspire young players in Punjab to take up Kurash and Judo and pursue excellence at the national and international levels.
On the occasion, Arun Kumar, Kulwinder Singh Bath and Press In-charge Jaswinder Singh were also present.
