
Patiala, November 22 (Sports Desk): The first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia in Perth has been filled with drama. Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah won the toss and elected to bat first, a decision that didn’t pay off immediately. India was bundled out for a mere 150 runs. However, Australia’s response was even more disappointing. At the end of the first day’s play, Australia was reeling at 67/7. A total of 17 wickets fell on the first day.
India’s First Innings After India was dismissed for 150, Australia’s innings got off to a disastrous start. Opener Nathan McSweeney was dismissed for just 10 runs, caught by Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah. Following him, Usman Khawaja was also dismissed by Bumrah for a mere eight runs. Australia’s third wicket was that of Steve Smith, who was dismissed without scoring. Subsequently, India’s Harshith Rana clean bowled Australian star batsman Travis Head for just 11 runs. Mitchell Marsh became Mohammad Siraj’s fifth victim, scoring only six runs. By this point, half of the Australian team was back in the pavilion for just 42 runs. Australia was still 108 runs behind India’s score. After Mitchell Marsh’s dismissal, Marnus Labuschagne was also dismissed by Mohammad Siraj for two runs. And then, the Australian captain, Pat Cummins, was dismissed by Bumrah for three runs. Australia had lost seven wickets for 67 runs.

India’s Bowling Performance Bumrah was the pick of the Indian bowlers, taking four wickets for 17 runs. Harshith Rana took one wicket for 33 runs, and Mohammad Siraj claimed two wickets for 17 runs. At the end of the first day’s play, Australia was 67/7, still needing 83 runs to reach India’s score. The match will continue on the second day.
