Chandigarh, July 20:
A special meeting of the office bearers of the Central Punjabi Writers Association (Regd.) was held under the chairmanship of its President, Darshan Butter. Following the meeting, General Secretary Sushil Dusanjh issued a press statement announcing that the association’s elections, which are conducted every three years, will be held before October 31, 2026.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the election process, the last date for renewal of memberships and enrolment of new members has been extended to July 31, 2026.
Sushil Dusanjh appealed to all affiliated literary organizations, their office bearers, executive members, and Punjabi writers to coordinate with their respective literary associations and ensure that membership renewals and details of new members are submitted to the Central Office by July 31.
He informed that the annual membership fee has been fixed at ₹200, while the life membership fee is ₹1,000.
To qualify for new membership, an applicant must have at least one published literary book. If the book is currently under publication, its manuscript will also be considered acceptable. Alternatively, writers who have published at least 20 original literary works in reputed newspapers or literary magazines will also be eligible for membership.
The meeting was attended by Senior Vice President Makkhan Singh Kuhar, Vice Presidents Balwinder Sandhu, Daljit Singh Shahi, and Shailinderjit Singh Rajan, Secretary Surinder Preet Ghaniya, Executive Members Dr. Shinderpal Singh and Jatinder Mahal, and Office Secretary Deep Devinder Singh.
