In a significant breakthrough aligned with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s directive to ensure a safe and secure Punjab, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police solved the Pro-Khalistan graffiti case within 24 hours, arresting two individuals, including a juvenile, announced Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Friday.
Pro-Khalistan slogans appeared at three locations in Amritsar during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, USA-based head of the banned Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), claimed responsibility via a social media video.
The arrested individuals are Jashanpreet Singh (22) from Dargabad village in Batala and a 17-year-old juvenile. DGP Yadav revealed that preliminary investigations show both were in contact with foreign-based Shamsher Singh alias Shera Maan, who instructed them to carry out the act on Pannu’s orders. The accused used Snapchat to receive instructions and graffiti designs but were never paid the promised monetary rewards.

Further investigations are ongoing, the DGP added.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar detailed that a team led by DCP Ravinderpal Singh, including ADCP Jagbinder Singh, ADCP Harpal Singh, ACP Harminder Singh, ACP Shivdarshan Singh, Inspector Amolak Singh (CIA Incharge), Inspector Mohit Kumar (SHO Cantonment), Inspector Gurpreet Singh (SHO Civil Lines), and Inspector Amandeep Kaur (SHO A Division), meticulously traced and apprehended the accused.
CP Bhullar disclosed that the accused were lured with promises of payment that were never fulfilled. Jashanpreet and the juvenile purchased spray paint from Batala, executed the graffiti, and sent photographs to Shera Maan as proof.
Three separate FIRs have been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Defacement of Property Act at Cantonment, Division-A, and Civil Lines Police Stations.
