Aarav Kumar, a brilliant Class 6 student of DAV Public School, Patiala, has brought immense pride to Punjab and his school with a stellar performance at the 27th Sub-Junior National Fencing Championship held in Imphal (Manipur).
Aarav secured the Gold Medal in the Sabre Team Event and an outstanding 6th position in the Individual Sabre Event, showcasing his extraordinary talent. This remarkable feat marks his third consecutive national-level triumph, a result of his strong willpower, discipline, and relentless hard work.
Recently, Aarav also clinched a Bronze Medal in the Team Event at the 69th Punjab State Inter-District School Games (2025–26), further proving his prowess.
Aarav is currently receiving expert fencing training at NSNIS Patiala under the Come-and-Play Scheme, which was successfully revived through the dedicated efforts of Senior Executive Director (A) Vineet Kumar. This initiative has provided a robust platform for young athletes.
Aarav attributed his success to Vineet Kumar, stating, “It was only because of his guidance and inspiration that I achieved this milestone.” He also extended heartfelt thanks to his coaches and school teachers for consistently boosting his morale at every step.

It is worth mentioning that the Gold Medal in the Individual Sabre Event was won by Punjab’s Manraj Singh, who is also undergoing fencing training at NSNIS Patiala.
Kishan Kumar, High Performance Manager (HPM), Sports Authority of India, lavished praise on both athletes and remarked, “The success of these young players will serve as an inspiration for Punjab and the country in the future.”
