In a forward-looking initiative to modernize and future-proof Punjab’s school education system, Education Minister Harjot Bains today led a high-level delegation from the School Education Department to the India AI Impact Expo 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
The delegation — comprising Secretary School Education Sonali Giri, Chairman Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Dr. Amarpal Singh, and Director General School Education (DGSE) Arvind — engaged in in-depth strategic discussions with global technology leaders and central government bodies to identify scalable, AI-powered solutions that can enhance learning outcomes across Punjab’s vast network of schools.
During an extensive tour of the expo halls, Minister Bains held targeted interactions with leading global tech companies including Google, Deloitte, Intel, OpenAI, NVIDIA, and Dell. The conversations centered on the future of education, with a strong emphasis on embedding advanced AI tools into Punjab’s teaching and learning processes.

The delegation also met officials from the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) and the Ministry of Education, gaining valuable insights into India’s national AI strategy, Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), and governance frameworks that can be adapted for Punjab’s classrooms.
Minister Bains held focused discussions with prominent Indian AI and education innovators such as Wadhwani AI, gnani.ai, and Bodh.ai. Key areas explored included:
- Personalised Adaptive Learning (PAL) platforms
- Foundational Literacy & Numeracy (FLN) enhancement through AI
- AI-assisted assessments and real-time feedback
- Multilingual learning tools
- Teacher support systems and professional development aids
- Real-time monitoring analytics for school governance and infrastructure oversight
The Minister also visited the Punjab Startup Pavilion at the expo, where he interacted with homegrown AI startups supported under Punjab Government initiatives. He highlighted the state’s emerging position as a vibrant hub for educational technology innovation.
Speaking after the visit, Bains said: “This visit has provided us with a clear and actionable roadmap to equip Punjab’s future generations with the tools of tomorrow. Our meaningful engagements with global giants like NVIDIA, Google, and OpenAI — combined with the creativity of our own startups — have opened exciting possibilities. We are particularly focused on rolling out Personalised Adaptive Learning and strengthening Foundational Literacy and Numeracy through AI. By blending these cutting-edge technologies with the robust policy frameworks shared by MeitY and the Ministry of Education, we aim to create a model where technology becomes a powerful force multiplier for teachers and a personalized learning companion for every student in Punjab.”
