Municipal Corporation has initiated sealing action against property tax defaulters

  • 10 sealing teams have been formed to seal units that fail to clear their outstanding property tax by March 31, 2025.
  • The general public is appealed to deposit their due property tax before March 31, 2025, to avoid additional penalties and interest.

Patiala, March 25:
The Patiala Municipal Corporation today launched a sealing drive against property tax defaulters. In line with this, the corporation has constituted 10 separate sealing teams to seal units that do not pay their outstanding property tax by March 31, 2025.

Under the directives of Municipal Corporation Mayor Kundan Gogia and Commissioner Paramvir Singh, the corporation’s Property Tax Branch, led by Joint Commissioner Deepjot Kaur and Assistant Commissioner Ravdeep Singh, sealed units belonging to Gursewak Singh on Bhupindra Road, SCO 12 at Sain Market, and Sukhwinder Singh in Sant Nagar due to non-payment of property tax during the sealing campaign.

Providing details, Joint Commissioner Deepjot Kaur stated that three units located at Arna Barna Chowk and Book Market paid their outstanding property tax on the spot to the team, thereby avoiding the sealing action. Today’s sealing drive included Property Tax Superintendent Sunil Gulati, Inspector Navdeep Sharma, Inspector Jaskirat Kaur, and Inspector Sarbjit Kaur. Additionally, the entire police staff of the Patiala Municipal Corporation accompanied the property tax team throughout the campaign.

Assistant Commissioner Ravdeep Singh and Property Tax Superintendent Lavnish Goel informed that, as per the orders of the Municipal Commissioner, 10 separate sealing teams have been formed to seal units that fail to clear their property tax dues by March 31, 2025. These teams will commence their sealing campaign starting March 26.

They added that this sealing drive will continue in the same manner in the future. They appealed to the general public to deposit their due property tax at the Patiala Municipal Corporation before March 31, 2025, to avoid additional fines and interest.
