The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has registered a case against a Panchayat Secretary, Sarpanch, and a private individual for allegedly misappropriating funds under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY).
The accused, identified as Santokh Singh (Panchayat Secretary), Mahla Singh (Sarpanch), and Mukhtiar Singh (private individual), are from the village of Saidey Ke Hithad in Fazilka district.

According to the VB investigation, Mukhtiar Singh fraudulently received Rs 1.2 lakh under PMAY despite already owning a house on Panchayat land allotted by the state government. The Sarpanch and Panchayat Secretary are accused of colluding with Mukhtiar Singh to approve his application, despite knowing about his existing house.
A case has been registered against the accused under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code. The VB is conducting further investigations into the matter.
