Multani Mal Modi College Hosts SMARTs Investor Awareness Workshop

Patiala, August 27

The P.G. Department of Commerce and Department of Business Management at Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, in collaboration with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the National Center for Financial Education, organized a one-day workshop under the SMARTs Investor Awareness Program.

The workshop was conducted by Mr. Vishavdeep Sharma, a SMARTs Training and Development Officer from the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD) and the National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD). The objective was to educate students about financial planning and investment markets.

Dr. Neeraj Goyal, the college principal, welcomed the expert and emphasized the importance of financial security for individuals and organizations. He urged students to acquire both theoretical and practical knowledge to understand the complexities of financial markets and risk management.

Prof. Neena Sareen, Head and Dean of the Department of Commerce, highlighted the department’s commitment to training students as future investment consultants and financial advisors. She emphasized that such workshops help students develop analytical skills and make informed decisions about their financial future.

Vishavdeep Sharma discussed fundamental concepts of financial planning and investment, including the functioning of share markets and stock exchanges, the differences between mutual funds and systematic investment planning, and strategies for minimizing investment risks.

Prof. Parminder Kaur presented the vote of thanks. The event was attended by faculty members and a large number of students.
