Chandigarh, August 6,
As part of its ongoing anti-corruption drive, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Tuesday arrested Balwinder Singh, a Junior Engineer with PSPCL, Jalalabad (West) in Fazilka district, for accepting a bribe of ₹7,000.
According to an official VB spokesperson, the accused had demanded a bribe of ₹10,000 from the complainant, Salvinder Singh, a resident of village Jamalgarh, tehsil Jalalabad, in exchange for installing a separate transformer for a motor on his agricultural land.

During preliminary inquiry, it was verified that the Junior Engineer initially took ₹3,000 as the first installment and later demanded the remaining ₹7,000. The complainant provided an audio recording as evidence of the demand.
Based on the findings, a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered. The accused will be produced in a competent court tomorrow. Further investigation is underway.
