Chandigarh, July 30:
Punjab NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal has announced that a Zero FIR has been registered in connection with the attack on an NRI couple from Chimnewala village in Fazilka district, Punjab. The incident occurred in Rohtak, Haryana.
The decision to register the Zero FIR was made after a meeting with the victim’s family and in accordance with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. Minister Dhaliwal has assured full support and protection to the NRI community.

In a letter to the Haryana Chief Minister and DGP, Minister Dhaliwal has demanded swift identification and punishment of the culprits. He has also requested a meeting with the Haryana Chief Minister to discuss the safety of Punjabis traveling between Delhi and Punjab.
The NRI couple, Sukhwinder Kaur and Buta Singh, were attacked while returning from Delhi Airport. Their driver’s quick actions prevented a major tragedy. The brave driver will be awarded Rs. 1 lakh and a bravery award by the Punjab government.
The Punjab government is committed to safeguarding the interests of its NRI citizens and will take all necessary steps to ensure their safety and security.
