Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and reiterated the state’s commitment to maintaining law and order. Speaking to the media after chairing a high-level meeting with civil and police officials, Mann described the attack on innocent tourists as a barbaric and inhumane act, underscoring that terrorists aim solely to spread fear, regardless of religion.
Mann affirmed that Punjab is on high alert, with intensified patrolling and checks at interstate and inter-district points, particularly in vulnerable areas. He emphasized the state’s resolve to counter drugs and terrorism, noting ongoing coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir government to ensure the safe return of stranded Punjabi tourists. Highlighting the threat posed by smugglers, gangsters, and terrorists using drones, Mann announced plans to deploy anti-drone technology to curb the smuggling of weapons and drugs.
Security across Punjab has been strengthened, with close coordination between the Punjab Police, Army, and BSF to thwart any threats. Mann praised the Punjab Police as a robust second line of defense, fully equipped to maintain peace. Tourist sites in the state have also seen enhanced security measures to prevent disruptions.
