Punjab Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Cheema flagged off three ambulances from the Sangrur rest house on Saturday to deliver essential medical services to residents in flood-affected areas of the Dirba constituency.
The Minister explained that these ambulances, equipped with doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, will tackle post-flood health risks and shield communities from waterborne and other diseases. For the next 15 days, medical teams will offer free check-ups and medicines, with severe cases being referred to nearby health centers for advanced treatment.
Addressing the gathering, Finance Minister Cheema reaffirmed the Punjab Government’s dedication under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to provide enhanced compensation to flood victims. He announced that amendments to the Disaster Management Act, Mining Act, and related laws will be presented in the upcoming legislative session following Cabinet approval. Cheema stressed that the entire government and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are fully committed to the welfare of affected families, which will be evident in the forthcoming assembly session.
Describing the “Rangla Punjab Chardi Kala Fund” campaign as a resounding success, the Minister highlighted the substantial contributions from Punjabis worldwide, which have bolstered relief efforts. He expressed gratitude to Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) for their support during this crisis, noting that the fund will uplift the spirits of families who have endured massive losses from the natural calamity.

Cheema assured that the Punjab government will take every possible measure to aid the flood-hit population, aiming to build a stronger and more prosperous Punjab.
