On Police Commemoration Day, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Kuldeep Singh Chahal affirmed the Punjab Police’s readiness to counter anti-national forces and safeguard the nation’s peace and unity. Speaking at the Patiala Police Lines during the Police Commemoration Day Parade, DIG Chahal paid tribute to the martyrs of the police and paramilitary forces.
Joined by Divisional Commissioner Vinay Bublani, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Varun Sharma, Additional District and Sessions Judge Harinder Sidhu, Additional Deputy Commissioner Simarpreet Kaur, retired and serving police officers, and families of martyrs from the district, DIG Chahal laid wreaths at the martyrs’ memorial. A police contingent, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Harsimran Singh, offered a mourning salute, followed by a two-minute silence in honor of the fallen.
DIG Chahal remarked, “The sacrifices of these brave martyrs will always inspire us. Punjab faced nearly a decade of terrorism, losing 1,784 police personnel and their families, including 157 from the Patiala range. Their sacrifices have restored peace in Punjab today.” He noted that the day commemorates the 10 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel killed by the Chinese Army at Hot Springs, Ladakh, on October 21, 1959, while patrolling the border.

SSP Varun Sharma saluted the martyrs’ families, acknowledging that their sacrifices secured peace and that their grief is immeasurable. A blood donation camp, organized with the Youth Federation of India and Power House Youth Club, was held in memory of the martyrs.
DSP (H) Neha Aggarwal read out the names of police and paramilitary personnel who lost their lives across the country in the past year. DIG Chahal and SSP Sharma honored the martyrs’ families and addressed their grievances.
