CM Mann Encourages Punjabis to Boost Local Economy

-after a highly successful Japan visit, Chief Minister kicks off South Korea leg with a rousing community interaction

Chandigarh/Seoul, December 8

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann urged the vibrant Punjabi community in Seoul to become the state’s “Brand Ambassadors” and actively inspire leading Korean companies to invest in Punjab – which he described as the most preferred global investment destination today.

Addressing an enthusiastic gathering of the Punjabi diaspora, the Chief Minister said investor-friendly policies of his government have already triggered a rush of investments and the community in Korea can further accelerate this momentum. “A Punjabi is a born entrepreneur. Let us together put Punjab on the highest trajectory of industrial growth and create a truly Rangla Punjab,” he said, striking an emotional chord.

He highlighted that the state is offering policy stability, lightning-fast decisions, world-class infrastructure and a governance system that truly respects the investor’s time and trust. Key reforms showcased included:

  • FastTrack Punjab single-window portal with 173 services & auto-deemed approvals
  • PAN-based common business identifier
  • Time-bound approvals under the amended Right to Business Act
  • On-ground investments worth over ₹1.4 lakh crore already facilitated through Invest Punjab

CM Mann reiterated that the government’s role is to act as a catalyst and equal partner with industry for shared prosperity.

The diaspora gave a thunderous welcome to the Chief Minister and expressed immense pride in Punjab’s aggressive global outreach. They shared how they continue to promote Punjabi culture in Korea through Baisakhi celebrations, Punjabi language classes, food festivals and cultural events.

  • Prof. Lakhvinder Singh welcomed the focus on defence & aerospace sectors

  • Visit to Pangyo Techno Valley – Korea’s Silicon Valley
  • Engagement with Korea Defense Industry Association (KDIA) for defence & aerospace collaboration

The Chief Minister began the South Korea leg with a detailed briefing with Indian Ambassador to Korea, Gourangalal Das, outlining priority sectors: food processing, agri-tech, renewable energy, manufacturing, defence, aerospace and urban infrastructure.
