Cricket’s historic return to the Olympic Games after 128 years has taken a major step forward with construction officially beginning on a dedicated cricket venue in Pomona, Los Angeles County, California. All cricket matches during the LA 2028 Olympics will be played at a temporary purpose-built stadium at the Fairgrounds in Pomona.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held at the Fairplex Grounds, where ICC Chairman Jay Shah described the project as a landmark moment for global cricket. He said the sport’s inclusion in the Olympics reflects cricket’s growing international reach and expressed confidence that the venue would leave a lasting legacy in the USA.
