Er. Rattan Kumar Mittal, Chief Engineer, Distribution South Zone, Patiala, said that the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has directed all Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) to update the necessary records in the pension package to ensure timely disbursement of financial benefits to pensioners and family pensioners.
The issue came to light during a meeting between PSPCL CMD Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, IAS, representatives of the PSEB Joint Forum and the Bijli Mulazam Ekta Manch Punjab. During the meeting, it was pointed out that the dates of death of some pensioners and dates of birth of certain family pensioners had not been entered in the pension package. This was causing difficulties in processing benefits such as Old Age Allowance and Leave Travel Concession (LTC).

During the subsequent review of records, it was found that the dates of death of 2,109 pensioners and the dates of birth of 876 family pensioners had not been updated. As a result, some eligible pensioners were facing difficulties in receiving LTC, Old Age Allowance and other admissible financial benefits.
Taking serious note of the issue, PSPCL CMD Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, IAS, has directed all concerned DDOs to complete the required exercise within 15 days.
The directions are aimed at ensuring that pensioners and family pensioners receive their eligible financial benefits smoothly and without unnecessary delay.
