
Land Acquisition Begins for Delhi-Amritsar Bullet Train

The Indian government has initiated a significant step towards high-speed rail connectivity by commencing land acquisition for the Delhi-Amritsar bullet train route. This project, once completed, will revolutionize travel between the two cities.
Key Details:
- Route: The 465-kilometer route will pass through major cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, and Amritsar.
- Speed: The bullet train is expected to have a maximum speed of 350 km/h, reducing travel time between Delhi and Amritsar to less than two hours.
- Stations: The train will halt at 15 stations along the route, including Chandigarh.
- Land Acquisition: Approximately 343 villages in Haryana and Punjab will be affected by land acquisition.
- Estimated Cost: The project is estimated to cost around ₹61,000 crore.
Land acquisition will cover 343 villages across Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab. In Punjab, land will be acquired from 186 villages, including 39 from Mohali, 49 from Jalandhar, 37 from Ludhiana, 22 from Amritsar, 25 from Fatehgarh Sahib, 12 from Kapurthala, and one each from Tarn Taran and Rupnagar.
This ambitious project is part of the government’s plan to establish a network of high-speed rail lines across the country. The Delhi-Amritsar bullet train is expected to boost economic growth, create jobs, and enhance connectivity between the two regions.
