Heart Health: A Success Story from Rajindra Hospital

Rare ruptured Sinus of Valsalva successfully treated with device closure — free of cost

Patiala, December 9

A 37-year-old man in critical condition was brought to Government Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, on a non-invasive ventilator. Prompt diagnosis revealed a life-threatening ruptured Sinus of Valsalva — a rare cardiac disorder that can prove fatal within hours if not treated immediately.

The patient was rushed to the Cath Lab where the Cardiology team successfully performed a device closure procedure, leading to a dramatic improvement in his condition. The entire treatment, including the advanced intervention, was provided completely free of cost, as informed by Dr R P S Sibia, Director-Principal of the institute.
