Two golds from rising stars Simranpreet Kaur and Suruchi Singh; strong show in pistol events

Indian shooters ended their 2025 season on a high note at the ISSF World Cup Final in Doha, securing six medals — 2 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze. The team dominated pistol events with four medals but drew a blank in shotgun disciplines.
Rising stars Simranpreet Kaur and Suruchi Singh delivered India’s golden moments with junior world record-equalling performances.
- Simranpreet Kaur (21) clinched gold in the women’s 25m pistol with an outstanding 41/50 hits, matching the junior world record set by Olympic champion Yang Ji-in of Korea (who finished fourth).
- Suruchi Singh dominated the women’s 10m air pistol final, setting a new ISSF junior world record of 245.1 points — surpassing Manu Bhaker’s previous mark of 244.7 from 2019.
Sainyam, the 2023 junior world champion, bagged silver in the same 10m air pistol event behind Suruchi.
In men’s events:
- Samrat Rana, fresh from his world championship success, won bronze in the 10m air pistol.
- Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar earned silver in the 50m rifle 3 positions.
- Anish Bhanwala upgraded his previous bronze (from 2023) to silver in the 25m rapid fire pistol at the same Lusail range.
Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker had a tough outing, finishing fifth in the 10m air pistol and missing the final in 25m pistol.
In shotgun, Zoravar Singh Sandhu (recent People’s Choice Award winner) qualified for the men’s trap final but finished seventh.

This marks an improvement from last year’s World Cup Final (New Delhi), where India won four medals (2 silver, 2 bronze).
