Ludhiana Achieve a 48% Drop in Water Complaints

Chandigarh, October 12, 2025
Punjab’s Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh announced that the Municipal Corporation (MC) Ludhiana has made significant strides in ensuring potable water supply across the city, achieving a remarkable 48% reduction in water contamination complaints. The number of complaints dropped from 608 in 2022-23 to 318 in 2025 (till date), with all issues resolved permanently.

Key Achievements

Dr. Singh highlighted that the ongoing efforts to upgrade Ludhiana’s water distribution network have yielded positive results. In 2024, the MC laid 12.6 km of new water supply lines, followed by over 20 km in 2025, replacing old and damaged pipelines. These initiatives have significantly improved water quality and supply reliability across various city areas.

We have resolved all contamination complaints permanently, and new projects are underway to meet this goal,” he said. The MC has been directed to ensure comprehensive coverage, with additional water supply line projects planned where needed.
