Match Recap
In a dominant performance, Royal Challengers Bangalore Women (RCB W) defeated Delhi Capitals Women (DC W) by 8 wickets in Match 3 of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 on Monday. The match was held at the iconic Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, with RCB continuing their winning streak in the tournament.
DC W’s Innings: A Collapse After Promising Start
Delhi Capitals got off to a shaky start after being put into bat first. They lost their first wicket early when Shafali Verma , one of their key openers, was dismissed by Renuka Singh in the very first over. Shafali was caught by captain Smriti Mandhana at mid-off for a duck.
However, Jemimah Rodrigues and skipper Meg Lanning steadied the ship with a crucial 59-run partnership for the second wicket. Jemimah scored 34 runs off 22 balls , including four boundaries, while Meg contributed 17 runs off 19 balls before being dismissed.
Once this partnership broke, Delhi’s batting order crumbled under pressure. Middle-order batters like Anabel Sutherland (19), Marizanne Kapp (12), Sara Bryce (23), and Shikha Pandey (14) tried to stabilize the innings but fell quickly. Delhi eventually managed to post 141 runs in 19.3 overs, thanks to some late cameos.
For RCB, bowlers delivered a disciplined performance. Renuka Singh and Georgia Wareham claimed three wickets each, while Kim Garth and Ekta Bisht picked up two wickets apiece.
