Punjab’s agricultural sector has shown remarkable progress this year, with a significant increase in paddy yield. According to the state’s Agriculture Department, the average paddy yield per hectare has increased by 1.4 quintals compared to the previous year.

Key Points:
- Record Paddy Yield: The state has conducted 1863 Crop Cutting Experiments (CCEs) so far, with an average yield of 6878 kg per hectare for both non-Basmati and Basmati varieties.
- Wheat Sowing: The sowing of wheat is progressing well, with 27 lakh hectares already covered out of the 35 lakh hectare target.
- Fertilizer Availability: The state has sufficient stocks of DAP and other phosphatic fertilizers to meet the needs of farmers for the Rabi season.
- Government Support: The Punjab government is committed to supporting farmers and ensuring the success of the agricultural sector.
The state government’s focus on modern agricultural practices, timely provision of inputs, and effective extension services has contributed to this significant increase in paddy yield.
