As finalists in the previous edition, South Africa is eager to clinch the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 title. Laura Wolvaardt will take the reins as captain for the first time at an ICC event, leading the Proteas squad.

Preparation and Squad
Before the World Cup, South Africa will compete in a three-match T20I series against Pakistan from September 16 to 20. The squad for both events remains largely unchanged from the previous year, with the addition of four new players: Eliz-Mari Marx, Tumi Sekhukhune, Mieke De Ridder, and Seshnie Naidu. 19-year-old Miané Smit has been named as a traveling reserve.
