Two students from Strawberry Fields High School, Chandigarh, Lehnaaz Rana and Noor Dhillon, are using their digital platform, The Time Capsule, to bring the history of Kapurthala to life.
Discovering Kapurthala: The duo’s journey began with a shared curiosity about Kapurthala, often referred to as the “Paris of Punjab” due to its European-inspired architecture. They explored the city’s historical sites, including the Jagatjit Palace, Durbar Hall, and Kamra Palace.
Meeting Maharaja Sukhjit Singh: A significant moment came when they met Maharaja Sukhjit Singh, the scion of the erstwhile Kapurthala state. His stories about his ancestors’ love for French culture and their contributions to the city’s development enriched their research.
Sharing History Digitally: Through their paintings, blog, and Instagram posts, Noor and Lehnaaz are making history accessible to a wider audience. They aim to bridge the gap between the past and present, allowing people to rediscover the stories that shaped their world.
The Time Capsule’s Impact: The Time Capsule has gained a significant following on Instagram, with each post and reel offering a unique perspective on Kapurthala’s history. Their work has inspired many to explore and appreciate the rich heritage of Punjab.
Conclusion: Lehnaaz Rana and Noor Dhillon’s digital initiative is a valuable contribution to preserving and sharing the history of Kapurthala. Their passion and dedication are inspiring others to discover and appreciate the stories of the past.
