In a significant development for Indian cricket, Suryakumar Yadav has been appointed as the new captain of the T20I team. The announcement came alongside the squad selection for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.
Yadav, who has been in exceptional form with the bat, takes over the reins from Rohit Sharma, who stepped down from the T20I captaincy after India’s triumphant World Cup campaign.

The decision to appoint Yadav as captain comes as a surprise to many, with Hardik Pandya being the initial frontrunner for the role. However, the team management has clearly opted for Yadav’s dynamic leadership and batting prowess to guide the team in the shortest format.
