India secured a T20 series victory over the West Indies with a convincing 60-run win in the final match at Navi Mumbai. This marks India’s first home T20 series win in five years, since defeating South Africa in 2019.
The victory was powered by explosive batting performances from Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh. India posted their highest-ever T20 total of 217/4, surpassing their previous best of 201/5 against the UAE.
Key Highlights:
- Smriti Mandhana: Continued her excellent form with her third consecutive half-century of the series, scoring 77 off 47 balls. This year, she achieved a record of eight T20I fifties—the most by any batter in a calendar year—and now holds the record for the most fifty-plus scores in Women’s T20Is (30). She also ended the year with 763 runs, a record in women’s T20Is.
- Richa Ghosh: Smashed a blistering 54 off just 21 balls, equalling the record for the fastest fifty in women’s T20Is (shared with Sophie Devine and Phoebe Litchfield). Her innings included five sixes and three fours.
- Partnerships: Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues (39 off 28) forged a crucial 98-run partnership, while Ghosh and Raghvi Bist (31* off 22) added 70 runs in just 32 balls towards the end of the innings.
- Indian Bowling: Radha Yadav was the standout bowler, taking 4/29.
