The documents related to the historic Battle of Saragarhi captivated thousands of visitors during the Patiala Military Literature Festival , offering them a deep connection to India’s glorious history. For the first time in Patiala, documents related to the Battle of Saragarhi were displayed, courtesy of A.S. Chahal. These included achievements of the Fourth Battalion of the Sikh Regiment and detailed accounts of its historical significance.
In addition to these documents, the exhibition featured items such as the Armed Regiment Cover , the Param Vir Chakra , heritage artifacts from Patiala, Nabha, Jind, Khetri, and Malerkotla princely states , ancient coins, British-era postage stamps, and Nanakshahi coins. These artifacts became the focal point of attraction for visitors.
During the event, A.S. Chahal , Chairman of Akal Sahai Ajayib Ghar, provided insights into the historical significance of these items. The Department of Posts also set up an exhibition showcasing rare postage stamps.

After touring the exhibition, Cabinet Minister Dr. Balbir Singh remarked, “This exhibition has given the people of Patiala not only an opportunity to learn about the military but also to connect deeply with India’s proud history. Ancient coins, postage stamps, and documents related to the Battle of Saragarhi reconnect us with our rich heritage. Such exhibitions offer students a chance to learn something new and valuable.”
Students who visited the exhibition expressed their appreciation, saying, “These ancient artifacts introduce us to our rich heritage and culture and inspire the younger generation. This exhibition helped us understand the history surrounding the Battle of Saragarhi.”
The exhibition served as a bridge between the past and present, fostering pride in India’s cultural and military legacy while educating the younger generation about the sacrifices and achievements that define the nation’s history.
