Soaring High: Three Punjab Daughters Commissioned as Flying Officers in Indian Air Force
Chandigarh, June 14
The Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (AFPI) for Girls, SAS Nagar (Mohali), celebrated a proud moment as three of its alumni—Harnoor Singh, Kritee S Bisht, and Alisha—were commissioned as Flying Officers in the Indian Air Force on Saturday. The trio successfully completed their training at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal (Hyderabad), with the passing-out parade reviewed by Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, PVSM, AVSM.
Flying Officers Harnoor Singh and Alisha joined the Education Branch, while Flying Officer Kritee S Bisht was commissioned as a Flight Controller in the Administration Branch of the Air Force. Harnoor Singh is the daughter of S. Vikram Singh Bains, a Principal at a Government School in Pathankot. Kritee S Bisht is the daughter of Sh. Shakti Sharan Singh, a Senior Engineer at PACL, Nangal. Alisha is the daughter of Sh. Sunil Dutt, a teacher at a private school in Jalandhar.

Punjab’s Employment Generation, Skill Development, and Training Minister,Aman Arora, congratulated the three lady officers on their achievement, expressing hope that their success would motivate more young women from Punjab to pursue careers in the defence services. He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, to support the aspirations of women aiming to become commissioned officers. Major General Jasbir Singh Sandhu, AVSM (Retd.), Director of Mai Bhago AFPI, expressed his joy at the commissioning of the three alumni, noting that their achievement would further boost efforts to encourage more girls to join the armed forces.
