Drone-Smuggled Weapons Targeted for Terror Acts in Punjab: CP Gurpreet Bhullar

In a significant victory for Punjab’s security efforts under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s directive to ensure a safe state, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has dismantled a Pakistan-backed Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module operated by UK-based handler Dharam Singh alias Dharma Sandhu. One operative was arrested with six sophisticated foreign-made pistols, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav announced on Saturday.
The arrested individual, Onkar Singh alias Nawab, a resident of Jalalusma village in Amritsar, was found in possession of four 9MM Glock pistols and two .30 bore PX5 pistols, smuggled into India via drones from across the Indo-Pak border.
DGP Gaurav Yadav revealed that Dharma Sandhu, the mastermind behind the module, is a close associate of Pakistan-based terrorist Harvinder Singh alias Rinda. Ongoing investigations aim to uncover the module’s forward and backward linkages to dismantle the broader terror network

Amritsar Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar detailed the operation, stating that the arrest resulted from precise intelligence and coordinated efforts. “Interrogation revealed that the drone-delivered weapons were intended for disruptive activities in Punjab,” he said.
Preliminary findings indicate that Onkar Singh was part of a sleeper cell activated by foreign handlers to destabilize the state. The weapons were meant for distribution among local operatives to carry out targeted killings and terror activities. “We are actively working to expose the entire network and its international connections,” Bhullar added, noting that further probes are underway to identify additional accomplices and handlers.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 121, dated June 21, 2025, under Section 25 of the Arms Act at Maqboolpura Police Station in Amritsar.
