Spin Strength and Debutants
England’s squad boasts a robust spin attack, led by No.1 Women’s ODI bowler Sophie Ecclestone, alongside Sarah Glenn, Charlie Dean, and Linsey Smith. The team includes four specialist spinners and six players—Em Arlott, Lauren Bell, Alice Capsey, Lauren Filer, Sarah Glenn, and Emma Lamb—set to make their ODI World Cup debut.
Retained Core
Regulars Tammy Beaumont, Sophia Dunkley, Amy Jones, Charlie Dean, and Linsey Smith retain their spots as England aim to recapture their 2017 World Cup glory.
Head Coach’s Perspective
Head Coach Charlotte Edwards expressed excitement about the squad, emphasizing the honor of representing England at a World Cup and the challenge of playing in India. “Representing your country in a World Cup is one of sport’s greatest honors, and I’m thrilled for all the players selected,” she said. “The conditions in India favor spin, so we’ve opted for an extra spinner, and our depth in this area is a strength. Welcoming back Sarah Glenn and Danni Wyatt-Hodge, who’s been in fine domestic form, adds dynamism to our batting. Heather Knight’s return is a massive boost.”

Edwards acknowledged tough selection decisions, noting the exclusion of Kate Cross, Maia Bouchier, and Alice Davidson-Richards. She added, “India is a fantastic place to play cricket, and this squad has a unique opportunity to achieve something special. ODI World Cups are the pinnacle of our sport, and we’re eager to begin our preparations.”
England’s Legacy
As four-time champions (1973, 1993, 2009, 2017), England aim to add a fifth title to their legacy. Their campaign begins against South Africa on October 3, 2025.
With a blend of experienced stars, returning players, and debutants, England’s squad is poised to make a strong impact in India, aiming to replicate their 2017 triumph.
