Punjab’s ₹98-Crore Smart Panel Initiative: A Digital Revolution

Chandigarh, October 16

The Punjab Government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant  Mann, is revolutionizing education by equipping 3,600 government schools with over 8,230 state-of-the-art Interactive Flat Panels (IFPs) worth ₹98 crore, announced School Education Minister Harjot Bains. This ambitious project aims to transform classrooms, enhance conceptual learning, and improve educational outcomes for lakhs of students.

Bains detailed that the initiative will introduce dynamic, interactive digital classrooms across the state by March 2026, replacing traditional teaching methods. “This is a monumental step toward bridging the digital divide, ensuring equitable, world-class education for every child in Punjab,” he said. “We are empowering teachers and preparing students to be tomorrow’s innovators and leaders, reflecting our commitment to a future-ready Punjab where students in remote areas have access to the same cutting-edge tools as those in urban centers.”

The minister emphasized that the IFPs will foster engaging, participatory lessons, improve learning outcomes, and enable teachers to adopt innovative teaching methods. The 75-inch, multi-touch, high-definition panels come equipped with integrated computing, built-in speakers, stylus support, and pre-loaded interactive learning tools, aligning with Punjab’s vision for a modern education system.

To ensure long-term success, the project includes a robust support framework: a 5-year onsite warranty, local service centers, and a real-time Management Information System (MIS) for remote monitoring of device usage and performance. A centralized complaint-resolution dashboard and comprehensive insurance coverage against theft, damage, and natural calamities further strengthen the initiative’s accountability.
