Chandigarh/SAS Nagar, June 14
In a proud moment for Punjab, seven former cadets of the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI) have been commissioned as officers in the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force, further strengthening the institute’s reputation as a premier feeder institution for the nation’s defence services.
Four MRSAFPI cadets were commissioned into the Indian Army during the 158th Regular Course Passing Out Parade held at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, which was reviewed by the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
The newly commissioned Army officers are:
- Paramjot Singh from Hoshiarpur, son of a businessman and a staff nurse in the Health Department.
- Abhay Singh Raghav from Mohali, son of a Civil Registration Officer in the Health Department and a private school teacher.
- Aniket Kahol from Hoshiarpur, son of a businessman.
- Anurag Chauhan from Pathankot.
In addition, three MRSAFPI cadets were commissioned as Flying Officers during the 217th Course Combined Graduation Parade at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal, Hyderabad, which was reviewed by Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh.
The newly commissioned Flying Officers are:
- Udaibir Singh from Ropar, son of an Air Force veteran.
- Vasu Mehta from SAS Nagar, whose parents are both government school teachers.
- Karan Kaushish from SAS Nagar, whose mother serves in the judicial courts and whose father is a businessman.

Congratulating the young officers on their remarkable achievement, Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Minister Mr. Aman Arora encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in their military careers and serve the nation with dedication and honour. He said that the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is making concerted efforts to support and motivate the state’s youth to join the Indian Armed Forces.
Mr. Arora further stated that with these latest commissions, the number of MRSAFPI cadets commissioned as officers has reached 97 since the Bhagwant Mann Government assumed office in Punjab.
Major General Ajay H. Chauhan, VSM (Retd.), Director of MRSAFPI, also congratulated the newly commissioned officers and urged them to uphold the highest traditions and values of the Armed Forces while bringing pride to the nation, Punjab, and their alma mater.
