The Indian Oil Punjab State Sub-Junior Badminton Ranking Tournament concluded in a thrilling finale at the Raizada Hansraj Badminton Stadium on Wednesday. The tournament witnessed some exceptional talent from across the state.
400 Budding Stars Compete
Over four days, a total of 400 players from 20 districts battled it out in ten different events held in the Under-15 and Under-17 age groups. A staggering 471 matches were played, showcasing the dedication and passion of these young athletes.
Memorable Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony was graced by Mr. Rakesh Khanna, Vice President of the Punjab Badminton Association, and Mr. Anupam Kumaria as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively. Mr. Ritin Khanna, DBA Secretary, highlighted the tournament’s success, mentioning the participation of 400 players and the well-organized matches. He also commended the efforts made to provide refreshments and a comfortable environment for the players.

Winners Take Center Stage
The ceremony culminated in the distribution of prizes to the champions. Olympian Dipankar Academy provided attractive prizes, recognizing the outstanding performances of the young badminton stars. Here’s a glimpse at some of the top winners:
- Under-15 Girls Singles: Mahveesh Kaur (Gurdaspur) emerged victorious.
- Under-17 Boys Singles: Nilesh Seth (Amritsar) claimed the top spot.
- Under-17 Girls Singles: Gursimrat Kaur (Ludhiana) secured the championship title.
- Under-15 Boys Doubles: The Jalandhar duo of Viren Seth and Zorawar Singh dominated the competition.
- Under-15 Boys Singles: Viraj Sharma (Jalandhar) showcased his skills to win the singles category.
