Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University (SGGSWU), Fatehgarh Sahib, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Confederation for Challenged (CFC), a national organization dedicated to the welfare and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities. This collaboration marks a significant step toward advancing physiotherapy services and promoting community welfare.
The MoU establishes a partnership between SGGSWU’s Department of Physiotherapy and CFC’s SRIJAN Rehabilitation Centre in Village Fatehpur Araian, District Fatehgarh Sahib. The initiative aims to provide comprehensive physiotherapy assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for children with intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, autism, and other developmental challenges. Additionally, the agreement will offer SGGSWU physiotherapy students hands-on training through supervised internships and fieldwork at the rehabilitation centre. The collaboration includes plans for physiotherapy camps, joint seminars, awareness campaigns, community outreach programs, and research initiatives.
Dr. Prit Pal Singh, Vice-Chancellor of SGGSWU, emphasized that the partnership aligns with the university’s mission to blend academic excellence with social responsibility. Mr. Manmohan Jargar, President of CFC, and Mr. Balwinder Singh, a CFC member, expressed optimism about the collaboration’s potential to enhance rehabilitation efforts for children with special needs.

Dr. Supreet Bindra, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy, highlighted the mutual benefits, noting that the partnership will provide critical clinical exposure for students while improving care for children at the centre. Dr. Pankajpreet Singh, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, described the MoU as a pivotal step in bridging academic training with impactful community service.
