The 7th NTPC Para Archery (Men & Women) National Championship 2026 is being held in grand style at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NIS) campus in Patiala. The event, featuring categories such as Indian Round Open, Recurve Open, Compound Open, W1, and VI 1-2, was inaugurated today by Patiala Mayor Kundan Gogia.
On the occasion, dignitaries including Punjab Archery Association President Ravindra Kumar Bali, Secretary Navjot Singh, and other office-bearers honored the chief guest Mayor Kundan Gogia, along with prominent figures such as Dronacharya Awardee Jiwanjot Singh Teja, National Champion Vishal Kumar, Archery Coach Surinder Randhawa, National Awardee Ashok Verma, writer Rajeshwar Kumar, Prince Kumar, Ashok Ronie (Director), and Sanjeev Kumar.
The Archery Association of India entrusted the Punjab Archery Association with organizing this national event, which is being conducted in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) at NIS Patiala from January 29/30 to February 3, 2026. Today’s competitions saw participation from top national-level coaches like Abhilasha Chaudhary and Arjuna Awardee athlete Sheetal Devi, alongside many other prominent players and coaches.
Punjab Archery Association President Ravindra Kumar Bali and Secretary Navjot Singh expressed gratitude to the Archery Association of India and Deputy Director General Vineet Kumar for their support, which made this major event possible. They highlighted the enthusiastic atmosphere at the venue, with para archers from across the country showcasing their shooting skills. The competitions are also being covered and recorded online.
Bali noted that outstanding performers in various categories will receive medals during the event. The prize distribution ceremony will feature esteemed guests from the sports world, officials, coaches, and school management representatives.

The championship has attracted famous para archers and experienced coaches from across India, providing guidance and inspiration to emerging talents. Bali emphasized that such events give para sports greater visibility and offer young athletes opportunities to excel at national and international levels.
Through the successful hosting of this championship, Punjab is once again asserting its strong presence on India’s national sports map. The Punjab Archery Association has a proven track record of organizing similar national-level events effectively in the past.
