CM Fulfils Another Promise Made to Farmers

Hands Over Cheque of Rs 1 Crore and Appointment Letter for Government Job to Family of Shubkaran Singh

Chandigarh, July 9:

Fulfilling a promise made to the family of a young farmer who attained martyrdom at the Khanauri border during the farmer agitation, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday handed over a cheque of Rs 1 crore in financial assistance and an appointment letter for a government job to his family members.

While interacting with the bereaved family members after handing over the cheque and appointment letter, the Chief Minister reiterated that the state government is committed to the well-being of the farmers and is leaving no stone unturned to ensure their welfare. He acknowledged that young farmer Shubkaran Singh had attained martyrdom during the firing at the border, an incident that deeply affected every Punjabi.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the martyrdom of a farmer is a tremendous and irreparable loss for the family, one that cannot be fully compensated by any means. However, he explained that the Rs 1 crore financial assistance and the government job offered to the family are humble initiatives by the state government to support the family in their time of crisis. Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that this gesture is in recognition of the supreme sacrifice made by the young farmer for the cause of the country’s food growers.

Further, the Chief Minister highlighted the hard work and resilience of the state’s farmers, who have made the country self-reliant in food production. He noted that despite limited natural resources, Punjab’s farmers have worked tirelessly to produce grains for the nation, even at the cost of depleting water levels and soil fertility. Bhagwant Singh Mann emphasized that it is the government’s duty to support farmers and their families during times of crisis, and the state government is already making significant efforts in this regard.
