1200 New Jobs for Youth

Amritsar, April 9:

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday announced a Rs 135 crore development package for the Majha region, laying the foundation stone for a Milkfed expansion project at the local milk plant. The initiative aims to increase the production capacity of sterilized flavored milk and introduce new fermented dairy products like lassi, curd, and flavored milk.

Speaking to the gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted that such events were absent under previous governments, whose leaders focused solely on personal gains. He emphasized that his administration has made such development milestones routine, working relentlessly for public welfare. Bhagwant Singh Mann noted that Punjab is witnessing remarkable progress across all sectors due to the state government’s dedicated efforts.

The Chief Minister revealed that Verka products will soon be available globally through e-commerce platforms, ensuring their delicious, high-quality offerings reach a wider audience. He added that top Punjab athletes will be enlisted as Verka brand ambassadors to elevate its international presence. Mann credited Punjab with leading the nation’s White Revolution through its superior milk, curd, and lassi production, calling it a true marker of the state’s progress.

Mann further explained that the Milkfed project will enhance production capacity, bolster the regional dairy industry, and ensure better prices for dairy farmers linked to Milk Union Amritsar. He announced new service rules for Milkfed employees, a landmark move aligning their salaries with government standards and introducing performance-based incentives to foster excellence and motivation.

The Chief Minister shared that the project will create 1200 new jobs for the youth. He also expressed pride in Milkfed’s launch of innovative products like Rabri and Kaju Badam milk, which will cater to varied consumer tastes and solidify its status as a top dairy brand.

A new Milkfed mascot, ‘Veera,’ was unveiled to embody Verka’s values and connect with customers. Mann recalled that Milkfed, established in 1973, aimed to support Punjab’s dairy farmers by offering a profitable market, technical assistance, and effective product marketing. Today, it ranks as India’s seventh-largest milk cooperative, with an annual turnover exceeding Rs 6000 crore.

The Chief Minister disclosed that the Punjab government has allocated Rs 100 crore in budgetary support to ensure higher procurement prices for dairy farmers. He underscored Milkfed’s strength in sourcing top-quality milk and producing premium dairy products, backed by investments in cutting-edge milk plants and testing equipment to guarantee safety and quality at every stage.

Mann urged farmers to supply more milk to Verka, enabling it to expand while offering them competitive rates. He highlighted Milkfed’s ongoing efforts to introduce new products, which have received enthusiastic responses, and its expansion into Delhi and NCR markets as part of a pan-India outreach. The Chief Minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to reviving Milkfed’s legacy under the Verka brand, renowned worldwide for its milk, butter, ghee, and other delectable dairy offerings.

Taking a dig at the opposition, Mann accused their leaders of infighting for power while his Aam Aadmi government focuses on the welfare of future generations. He described the opposition as a fractured group, consumed by greed and incapable of delivering for Punjab.
