The Honorable Court has issued an order prohibiting demonstrations at Punjabi University, Patiala, following ongoing protests by fixed and daily wage employees. The employees have been staging a dharna on the university campus for several days.
According to university authorities, the court order, dated June 2, 2025, bans any form of dharna, gathering, meeting, demonstration, or gherao within a 300-meter radius of the university’s outer boundary wall. This ruling explicitly prohibits protests inside the campus. The authorities emphasized that employees must not disrupt the university’s functioning in any manner.

The university has already informed the protesting employees about the court orders, urging them to comply with the directive to maintain normal operations on campus.
