Dr. Balbir Singh informed that with the released funds, several important development projects will soon begin in these villages. These include:
- Construction of pucca (cemented) roads with a 5-year guarantee
- Phirni (village inner roads) works
- Community halls
- Playgrounds
- Other modern infrastructure
These facilities will not only enhance the beauty of the villages but also provide maximum opportunities to the younger generation for sports and social activities.
He further stated that unused, abandoned ponds in many villages will be filled and trees planted in their place to make the village environment cleaner and more beautiful.
The Health Minister announced that a new “E-Rickshaw Service” will be launched in the villages very soon. This initiative will, on one hand, create new employment opportunities for the youth and, on the other, provide convenient transportation facilities to villagers – especially the elderly, students, and women.
On this occasion, Dr. Balbir Singh made a special announcement for women in the villages. He said that more employment opportunities will now be provided to women (sisters and mothers) through Self-Help Groups. The government’s aim is to make every village woman strong and self-reliant through cottage and household industries.
Additionally, Dr. Balbir Singh appealed to all Punjab residents to participate in large numbers in the events being organized at Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 23, 24, and 25 to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of “Hind Di Chadar” Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
