DSGMC Office Bearers Election Scheduled for June 25

New Delhi, June 21, 2025

Harmeet Singh Kalka, President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), announced today that the bi-annual election for the committee’s office bearers will be held on June 25.

Speaking to the media at the DSGMC headquarters in Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib, he stated that the Director of Gurdwara Elections has issued a communication directing the conduct of the elections, which will be carried out democratically and peacefully. Without naming anyone, Kalka warned that any attempts to disrupt the peace would face appropriate consequences.

He emphasized that the party will select office bearers through consensus. Unlike the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) elections, where party president Sukhbir Singh Badal announces the president’s name via an envelope, DSGMC’s office bearer nominations will be proposed by the committee’s most junior member, seconded, and elected by the general house. In addition to the president and general secretary, other office bearers and an executive committee will also be elected.

Addressing the delay in elections, Kalka explained that legal challenges filed by opponents in courts prevented timely polls. With the two-year term having lapsed, the Director of Gurdwara Elections and the Lieutenant Governor have now intervened to facilitate the process.

Referencing former presidents Paramjit Singh Sarna and Manjit Singh G.K., S. Kalka noted that these opposition leaders had vocally criticized the delay in elections. However, now that the polls have been announced, some opposition members are reportedly planning to approach courts to stall the process. “The opposition’s true intentions are now exposed, and Delhi’s Sangat has seen through their motives,” he remarked.

Responding to a media query, Kalka raised concerns over the sale of SGPC properties in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, alleging they were sold at one-third of their market value. He held the SGPC president accountable for this issue.
