First Time, 265 Girls Trained for Army and Police Through C-PYTE Camps in Punjab

Chandigarh, January 15:

In a landmark step toward empowering young women in Punjab, the state government has trained 265 girls for the Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), and Punjab Police for the first time through the Centre for Training and Employment of Punjab Youth (C-PYTE) camps across the state. Punjab Employment Generation, Skill Development, and Training Minister, Aman Arora, shared this during the 5th Governing Council meeting of C-PYTE, held at his office on Wednesday.

Highlighting a significant decision, the Minister announced that Punjab will soon establish an exclusive C-PYTE camp for girls aspiring to join the armed forces. This camp, located in Theh Kanjla village, Kapurthala district, will be staffed entirely by women. Additionally, a new C-PYTE camp will be set up in Pathankot district to prepare youth for employment in the police, armed forces, and CAPF. Currently, there are 14 C-PYTE camps functioning across Punjab.

Mr. Arora directed officials to ensure the timely completion of three under-construction C-PYTE camps at Asal Uttar (Tarn Taran), Kheri (Sangrur), and Borewal (Mansa).

Extensive Training and Employment Opportunities

Principal Secretary for Employment Generation, Skill Development, and Training, Ms. Jaspreet Talwar, informed the Minister that a total of 2,58,760 youth have been trained free of cost through C-PYTE camps, out of which 1,15,649 have secured employment. In addition to training for uniformed forces, youth are being trained for alternative jobs to enhance their employability. This year, 150 youth will be trained as drone pilots, 300 as security guards, and 150 as JCB/Crane operators.

Focus on Values and Skill Building

Director General of C-PYTE, Major General Rambir Singh Mann, emphasized that the camps instill core values like national integration, discipline, and social responsibility in youth while guiding them toward employment in the armed forces, police, paramilitary forces, and industries.

High-Level Participation

The meeting was attended by several senior officials, including Secretary for Industry DPS Kharbanda, IGP (HQs) Sukhchain Singh Gill, Special Secretary Personnel ,Gauri Prashar Joshi, Director of Rural Development and Panchayats Paramjit Singh, MD PESCO Major General Harmandeep Singh, Additional Director (Admin) Information and Public Relations Sundeep Garha, Deputy Principal Secretary to CM Yash Pal Sharma, and others.
