Inside the Tarn Taran Bye-Election: Six Nomination Insights

Chandigarh, October 17

On the fifth day of nominations for the bye-election to the 21-Tarn Taran Assembly Constituency, six nomination papers were submitted.

According to a spokesperson from the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Harjit Singh Sandhu filed his nomination papers today. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu submitted two nomination papers, while Rajesh Walia filed as AAP’s covering candidate. Additionally, Sham Lal Gandhi, representing the Sacho Sach Party, also submitted his nomination.

Notably, Indian National Congress candidate Karanbir Singh filed an additional nomination paper today, having previously submitted one on October 15.

The deadline for filing nominations is October 21, 2025. Scrutiny of nomination papers is scheduled for October 22, with the last date for withdrawal of candidature set for October 24, 2025.
