Lakhwinder Wadali Mesmerizes Audience with Sufi and Cultural Renditions at Patiala Heritage Festival

The second day of the Patiala Heritage Festival 2025 , organized by the Punjab government, witnessed an enchanting evening of Sufi music that left the audience spellbound. Renowned Sufi singer Lakhwinder Wadali , popularly known as the “King of Sufi,” headlined the event, elevating the cultural and spiritual ambiance of the festival held at the Polo Ground. The program was graced by prominent personalities, including Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Trunpreet Singh Saud , MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli , Mayor Kundan Gogiya , and a host of other dignitaries who joined the celebration of Punjab’s rich heritage.

An Evening Steeped in Tradition and Spirituality

Before Lakhwinder Wadali took the stage, Sufi folk artist Navjot Singh Mandher , accompanied by his troupe, set the tone for the evening with soulful renditions of Punjabi folklore, Dhadhi performances, and romantic ballads. His captivating storytelling through music connected deeply with the audience, evoking emotions tied to Punjab’s cultural roots.

As the evening progressed, Lakhwinder Wadali took center stage, weaving magic with his melodious voice. He performed timeless Sufi classics such as Baba Farid’s verses, “Dohe” , “Tu Maane Ya Na Maane” , “Charkha” , “Kamli Yad Di Kamli” , “Nazar Milao” , “Damadam Mast Qalandar-Jhule Lal” , “Tera Chehra” , “Rangee Gayee Sohniya” , “Rabb Mannia” , “Chaand” , and “Heer” . His soul-stirring performances had the audience swaying and humming along, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of devotion and joy.

Wadali expressed his gratitude to the Punjab government and district administration for organizing this heritage festival, calling it a commendable initiative. He praised Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for promoting Punjab’s cultural legacy on national and international platforms.

Government Officials Laud the Initiative

Speaking on the occasion, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Trunpreet Saud highlighted the vision of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to position Punjab as a hub for national and international tourism. He emphasized that such festivals not only celebrate Punjab’s rich heritage but also connect the younger generation to their roots through art and music.

Saud remarked, “Pure and soulful music like this connects us to our heritage and inspires the youth to lead lives of purpose and purity.” He encouraged everyone to participate in similar initiatives aimed at preserving Punjab’s cultural identity.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav extended an invitation to the residents of Patiala to join the festivities on February 15. She urged them to attend the Aero Show at the Civil Aviation Club on Sangrur Road in the morning and witness the grand Fashion Show at Qila Mubarak in the evening, featuring designs inspired by Satinder Satti.

A Celebration of Punjab’s Artistic Legacy

The event saw enthusiastic participation from local leaders, artists, and citizens, reflecting the collective pride in Punjab’s cultural heritage. Among those present were Senior Deputy Mayor Harinder Kohli , Deputy Mayor Jagdeep Singh Rai , District Planning Committee Chairman Jassee Sohiyawaala , Bollywood actor Javed Jaffery , renowned Punjabi actor Binnu Dhillon , and Chairperson of the Nagar Sudhar Trust Megh Chand Sharma .

Senior police officials, including DIG Mandeep Singh Sidhu , SSP Dr. Nanak Singh , and SP City Mohammad Sarfaraz Alam , also attended the event. The gathering included a large number of Patiala residents and music enthusiasts who reveled in the divine aura of Sufi music.
