Punjab’s Business Blasters program has garnered significant interest from government school students. School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced that the program, launched by the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government in November 2022, has seen over 1.38 lakh students register.
Initially introduced in 32 government senior secondary schools, the program aims to cultivate entrepreneurial mindsets among secondary-level students through experiential learning and a seed grant of INR 2000 per selected student.
Bains emphasized that the program is designed to empower Punjab’s young students to become job creators and problem-solvers, realizing the state’s vision of becoming an entrepreneurial hub.
After a rigorous selection process, 52,050 students (now in 12th grade) out of approximately 75,000 participants were shortlisted to receive seed money.

To reach a wider audience, the government expanded the program to all 1920 government senior secondary schools in the state during the academic year 2023-2024. Over 7,813 teachers and 1,83,192 eleventh-grade students across 23 districts are now participating.
The overwhelming response to the program demonstrates its effectiveness in motivating students and fostering entrepreneurial spirit among the youth of Punjab.
