-13 others, including Anil Vij, becoming ministers.

Chandigarh/Patiala, 17 October (Desk)

Naib Singh Saini, BJP MLA from Ladwa, was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Haryana on Thursday in a ceremony held in Panchkula. The event was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and several leaders of the NDA.

Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya administered the oath to 13 MLAs, including Anil Vij from Ambala Cantonment, Krishan Lal Panwar from Israna, Rao Narbir Singh from Badshahpur, Shruti Choudhary from Tosham, Aarti Singh Rao from Ateli, and Shyam Singh Rana from Radaur, making them ministers.

The BJP’s choice of today for the swearing-in ceremony is significant as it coincides with Valmiki Jayanti. Sage Valmiki is the author of the Hindu epic Ramayana and is especially revered among Dalits.

Chief Ministers from various NDA-ruled states, including Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, and Andhra Pradesh, along with BJP President J.P. Nadda, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah, were also present at the event.

A few hours before the ceremony, Saini visited the Valmiki Bhavan and offered prayers at the Gurdwara and Mansa Devi Temple in Panchkula. Saini told reporters that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the new BJP government will work to rapidly advance Haryana. Commenting on the election results, he stated that the people of Haryana have shown faith in Modi government’s policies.

In response to a question, he assured that the BJP’s manifesto would be fully implemented. He mentioned that the party had successfully implemented its 2014 and 2019 manifestos and that the current government would do the same.

In the elections held on October 5, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 48 out of the 90 seats in the Haryana Legislative Assembly, securing a historic third term in the state. Three independent MLAs, including Savitri Jindal from Hisar, also extended their support to the party. Meanwhile, the Congress won 37 seats.

Saini (54) met with Governor Dattatreya on Wednesday. After being unanimously elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party at a meeting held at the party office in Panchkula, he staked his claim to form the next government.

With the BJP forming the government for the third consecutive time in Haryana, Saini took the oath as Chief Minister for the second time. Saini, who is the party’s OBC face, had replaced Manohar Lal Khattar as Chief Minister in March. He won the Ladwa Assembly seat in Kurukshetra district by a margin of 16,054 votes.
