A Landmark Achievement
In a historic achievement, 40 students from government schools across Punjab have successfully cleared the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced, securing their path to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). This milestone was announced by Punjab’s School Education Minister, Harjot Bains, on Tuesday.
Congratulations and Vision
Extending his heartfelt congratulations to the students, their parents, and teachers, Bains described the students as the pride of Punjab and the future of India. He emphasized that their success reflects the Punjab Government’s steadfast commitment, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, to ensuring quality education for all, regardless of socio-economic background. “This achievement is not just a milestone for our students, but a testament to the power of education to transform lives,” said Bains, adding, “We will continue to strive for excellence and ensure that every child in Punjab has access to quality education and opportunities to succeed.”
Inspiring Stories of Resilience
The Education Minister shared inspiring stories of some of the successful students:
- Arshdeep Singh from Shaheed Flight Lt. Mohit Kumar Garg School of Eminence, Samana, overcame immense personal challenges to clear the JEE. After losing his father, Arshdeep’s mother, Sunita Rani, supported the family on a modest income of Rs 8,000 per month as a sanitation worker. With free coaching and mentorship from his government school, Arshdeep’s hard work and determination led him to qualify for IIT, embodying resilience and a commitment to uplift his family and contribute to society.
- Lovepreet Singh from a government school in Ferozepur district cracked the JEE without private coaching, despite limited financial resources. The state government’s Free Coaching Camp provided him with essential academic exposure and motivation, showcasing how dedicated support can empower rural students to excel on a national stage.
- Harkiran Dass from a government school in Patiala district also cleared the JEE. His father, Mewa Dass, earns just Rs 7,000 per month working in a local factory. With the help of the state’s free coaching program, doubt-clearing sessions, and teacher mentorship, Harkiran overcame economic hardships to achieve success. His story, as Bains noted, will inspire other students to pursue their dreams despite adversity. watch……Mega PTM in Punjab a Resounding Success with Over 17 Lakh Parents Participating
A Commitment to Education
Harjot Bains highlighted that these stories demonstrate the transformative power of education, resilience, and dedication. “From humble beginnings to achieving excellence, these students have shown that with determination and hard work, nothing is impossible,” he said. Their success is a direct result of the Mann Government’s efforts to bridge the educational divide, ensuring every child has access to quality education and opportunities to thrive.
This achievement underscores Punjab’s commitment to empowering its youth and building an inclusive society where every student can reach their full potential.
