Patiala, October 12
Punjab’s Health, Family Welfare, and Medical Education & Research Minister Dr. Balbir Singh flagged off seven newly equipped mobile medical vans from Patiala, dispatching them to various rural areas. This initiative, a collaborative effort between the Hans Foundation and the Punjab Government’s Health Department, aims to deliver free and quality healthcare services directly to the doorsteps of residents in remote and underserved regions. Each van will visit two villages daily, functioning as a mobile hospital.
Key Highlights
Dr. Balbir Singh emphasized that these mobile medical vans represent a significant step toward realizing the Punjab Government’s goal of ‘Healthcare for All’. He stated, “These vans are like moving hospitals, bringing healthcare to the doorstep of those who cannot access hospitals or dispensaries due to various constraints. This initiative will transform lives in rural areas.”
Each van is staffed with an experienced doctor, pharmacist, lab technician, and social development officer, equipped to conduct essential medical tests and provide free consultations, tests, and medicines. The vans will also raise awareness about health-related issues, ensuring villagers receive timely advice and regular medication.
